Well, one thing’s for sure. Micah Locke gives zero fucks.

The looks on the faces of the couple we’re approaching as we walk the halls of The Den are priceless, and I can’t blame them.

Blood stains half the collar of Micah’s t-shirt, and I’ve likely ruined Vince’s hoodie with the few red splotches on the chest and sleeve. My right palm is sticky with more of Micah’s blood, and yet we’re hand-in-hand, strolling slowly as if we don’t look like a pair of serial killers.

I barely make eye contact with the girl, but Micah acknowledges the guy as we pass with a casual, “What’s up?”

I can hear their whispers behind us, but Micah’s already unlocking and opening his door, completely unaware. We step inside and the space brightens when he flips the light switch. He moves to a laundry basket in the corner while I wander slowly, thinking how it’s been way too long since I’ve been here. It’s a bit of a mess, but that lines up with the chaos that’s been his life lately, so no judgement. Based on what the others have said, he’s been a shell of a human lately, which reminds me. There’s still so much to discuss, so much to gain clarity on.

I gasp at the feel of his hands on my waist. Then, I’m spun to face him. I’m still not quite steady on my feet when Micah kisses me in the most carefree, lighthearted way. I don’t think he’s ever kissed me this way, but… I love it.

We separate, and I’m grateful to see fresh towels tucked beneath his arm. After our elevator encounter, a little soap and water doesn’t sound like a half bad idea.

“Ready?” he asks.

I arch a brow. “You’re… coming with me?”

My confusion seems to amuse him. “Shower’s big enough for two, so, yeah. If you’re cool with it.”

I look him over—that face I’ve missed, that body I’ve missed—and it’s a no-brainer.

“Of course,” I say with a nod.

He likes my answer, making that crystal clear when he comes in for another kiss. We’re on our way to the bathroom when I remember two who are likely very worried that I haven’t come back down yet. So, I shoot Vince and Ash a quick text to let them know I’m with Micah, and then set my phone and the knife aside before leaving the room.

We don’t linger in the bathroom long. After Micah locks us in, he removes Vince’s sweatshirt off my torso, and then the tank top I wore underneath it. He moves to my shorts next, before taking off my bra and panties. Then, once I’m completely naked, I stare in silent awe as he undresses. Shit, watching him get naked is performance art.

Every damn second of it.

He holds my hand while I step into the shower, then he closes the curtain behind us. My hand goes to his neck, seeing the two deep wounds I left there.

“Do you have a first-aid kit? I’ll bandage you up when we’re done,” I offer, but he’s already shaking his head.
